Clean Up!

March 5th, 2009 by The BookaBin Australia Bin Hire Team

A report on environmental trends outlines that every Australian creates one tonne of rubbish each year, making the nation the second largest waste creator after the United States. This is a huge amount of waste and it is not always contained and removed correctly.

Clean Up Australia Day has been designed to provide Australians with a focus to get physically involved in cleaning up the rubbish in their environment as well as implementing positive environmental practices in their everyday lives. Volunteers clean up discarded rubbish in areas such as road ways, parks coastal areas rivers and streams to show that the Australian Environment is a priority for the community. Over 4300 areas in total have been attended to, with the most common items found being plastic and glass bottles, soft drink cans and cigarette butts (most of which can be recycled).

If you are interested in helping out, visit www.cleanup.org.au and find out how you can get involved!

Sheila’s Dilemma!

October 30th, 2008 by The BookaBin Australia Bin Hire Team

HELP! I’M STUCK! WHICH WASTE TYPE DO I NEED?!?

Sheila* had a dilemma… She was in the process of sorting out her landscaping in the back garden when she couldn’t stop! After starting with digging up some soil and laying pavers, she kept going! Soon she had done an amazing job which ‘Extreme Makeover Home Edition’ would have been proud to call their own! With peace of mind that her garden looked simply FABULOUS, the thought dawned upon Sheila… What is she to do with all of this excess garden waste she had dug up?

Never fear Sheila! Bookabin is here! And cleaning up Australia one garden at a time is what we do best.

Sheila (like many smart Australians) got onto the computer and visited the very popular www.bookabin.com.au. This website allows you to obtain a quote for a skip bin best suited to your requirements! You can rest assured you are getting the most competitive quote as we will scan from a NUMBER of local suppliers’ rates within your area ensuring that you always get the BEST service for the LOWEST price!

After entering her postcode, Sheila was stumped! The next step required her to select a waste type. She looked outside her window and saw a pile of soil, organic garden waste and some wood. Sheila asked herself… “Which bin type is right for me?”

…to be continued

Helpful Hints For Booking A Skip Bin!

September 18th, 2008 by The BookaBin Australia Bin Hire Team

It’s that time of the week again folks! Helpful hints from the Bookabin team, that’s what we’re all about!

Firstly a HUGE thanks you to all of those out there who have been utilising our website. We love visitors and we love your feedback so keep it up!

Booking Hints 101

1. Be aware of your postcode, if you DO NOT know your postcode then please click in the link below ‘Unsure of Post Code’. This will open up our handy dandy postcode finder.

2. Know what waste type you require; if you have a mix of household and garden waste – go for a General Waste Bin! If you have a collection of tiles, concrete and bricks – you’re going to need a Clean Fill Waste Bin.

3. Select the right bin size FIRST TIME. Think about it, take a long hard look at the waste you have and at our bin selection. Getting it right the first time is a lot cheaper than ordering 2 bins!

4. Be realistic about the time you require the skip for. Usually there is not much difference between the cost in a 1 day hire and a 6 day hire. Booking a bin for 5 days and then changing your mind about how long you need it for can mess up the stock levels for your supplier.

5. When filling out your delivery requirements PLEASE be considerate of your supplier. Use a number that the supplier can contact you with on the day of the delivery.

6. Read over your order! We can not emphasize the importance of this. It is easy to click on the wrong date, bin size or bin type, so please double check the details are correct.

7. Click on the ‘Book Bin’ button ONCE. Clicking on the button more than once can lead to multiple payments. When in doubt, please use our online support and we can confirm whether or not the payment has come through.

8. And lastly, stay beautiful Australia!

To all you lucky Blokes and Sheila’s who reside in Western Australia, you enjoy the long weekend coming up next week! You have been patient in waiting to celebrate the Queens birthday and that has all paid off… The weather will be in your favour so whip out the BBQ and make a day of it!

*Please drink responsibly*

Bin Hire For Long Weekends!!

April 23rd, 2008 by The BookaBin Australia Bin Hire Team

Seeing as its Anzac Day this Friday and everyone ends up with a long weekend, why not be prepared for the next long weekend coming up and order a bin nice and early for the big clean up? It’s an ideal time to landscape that garden out back, remodel the old kitchen, carpet the family room or even help the neighbours with their work.

What do all of these home improvements have in common? You will be needing to schedule a bin hire…….and quite frankly, most of Australia will be doing the same. So here are a few things to keep in mind to make sure you don’t miss out like you may have this weekend:

  • Order well in advance. First in is first served, and as long weekends are very busy times for bin hire suppliers, many will run out of stock. A good idea would be to get onto booking your bin hire a week or two in advance just to make sure you get your bin on the dates you require.
  • Have your bin hire delivered a day in advance! To make sure your bin hire is nice and early, ready for you to use first thing in the morning (because you will be up and working first thing in the morning!), select your delivery date a day or two early. This way your bin hire isn’t one of many thousand being delivered by the supplier on the first day of the long weekend.
  • Be sure to book a bin that is going to be big enough for your job. If you happen to finish early with a day or so to spare, you’ll probably end up finding other junk to throw away, so be sure not to get caught out with all that extra waste left behind.

With these little hints and tips you should be fine over the next long weekend and won’t miss the boat on your next bin hire.

Have a great ANZAC day and enjoy your weekend!

When Will My Bin Be Delivered???

April 10th, 2008 by The BookaBin Australia Bin Hire Team

Customers often contact us to find out what time their bin will be delivered, so they can plan out the rest of their day. The best way to find this out is to contact your supplier directly.

Supplier contact details are recorded on your Tax Invoice, which will be included in the email confirmation once you have booked your bin at www.bookabin.com.au.

When you place your online booking you will be able to indicate your specific delivery instructions to your supplier in the “Delivery Comments” box. This could be details such as:

• Where to place the bin
• Hazards to avoid
• If there will be anyone home on delivery
• The best time of day for delivery

If you have any special instructions, we also suggest you to talk directly to your supplier about these issues as they are the ones delivering your bin and want to provide you with the best service possible.

It’s All About Hidden Complexity

March 13th, 2008 by The BookaBin Australia Bin Hire Team

We have tried to make the customer experience with BookaBin.com.au as user friendly as possible while continually tweaking our interface to make it even easier. However it is not as simple as the user sees it, we have a lot of hidden complexity.

The steps as the customer sees it:

1. Enter postcode
2. Select waste type
3. Select bin size
4. Select delivery & pickup dates
5. Get the best price available
6. Enter your payment details

Now lets look behind the scenes:

1. BookaBin.com.au searches its database for all Suppliers that service your postcode
2. BookaBin.com.au then narrows this list down to Suppliers that will service your kind of waste
3. We then let you know what Bin Sizes we have available
4. Once you select the delivery & pickup dates we check to confirm that one will be available on those particular dates
5. Then we get you the best price available based on all your variables from our suppliers
6. Email confirmation is sent with your bin hire delivery details

Our algorithm is quite complex so we have simplified it a bit. However you can see that a lot goes on behind the scenes given that we provide thousands of quotes each and every week. Leave the tough stuff up to us and enjoy our quality service.
