Currently many people are hurting financially, yet most of us have a goldmine of unused items in our houses. The trick is to turn this trash and treasure into cash before you rent a skip bin, and just throw it all away.

Deciding what is trash / treasure:
1. Is it beautiful or do I use it?
2. Have I used it in the last 12 months?

If you answer NO to either of these questions, put it in the Treasure Trash pile!

These goods can be sold to generate a bit more moola, there are many ways to sell these unwanted items.

Online Auctions: There’s no doubt you get top dollar from online auctions. But the trouble is that they take a lot of effort. You’ve got to photograph each item to be auctioned, list it online, answer questions, source packaging, visit the post office to send it, and provide feedback. For valuable items this is worth it, for small items, it’s not.

Garage Sales: These are a great way to get rid of a large pile of junk. Unfortunately, they have a bad reputation. Inexperienced sellers think everyone who turns up will be a dealer and/or rude and unpleasant. The reality is that the vast majority of customers aren’t like that.

Auction houses: If your furniture, jewellery, art or other collectibles are valuable, you might want to sell them through a local auction house. But beware that the buyers are dealers and you’ll get wholesale value, less commissions.

OP Shops: Before you take your trash to the op shop, do a quick search to see what things are selling for. For example, granny’s ugly old 1950s sofa has become “mid-century” in a collector’s lexicon and may be worth hundreds of dollars.

Local notice boards: Another way to sell items is with cards or leaflets in your local supermarket or on other local notice boards.

And don’t forget ………Telling your friends! You never know what they have been eyeing up without you realizing!

………..Now the goods you have left over….. you will need a skip bin for all that junk! Book online to save time, visit www.bookabin.com.au
